Since Easter is right around the corner I thought I’d do a special Easter Basket Edition of Friday Favorites. I don’t remember attending a lot of Easter egg hunts when I was little (frankly our town didn’t make a big deal about them like they do now. There are more than a dozen at local parks and churches in the weekends leading up to Easter!) but I do remember our Easter baskets.
I remember new spring jackets, Easter dresses and hat, gloves, candy and special little gifts. Never fancy or extravagant, but special. So while Madi will definitely go to some Easter egg hunts, it’s putting together her Easter basket that brings me the most joy!
Here are my favorites for her Easter basket – and some ideas for Easter gifts I’d love to receive! {affiliate links included}
Little People Ideas
Itty Bittys – I might have mentioned a time or two on Instagram how much we love the new Hallmark Itty Bittys. Madi has nearly all the Disney princesses and several Mickey Mouse Club House characters (and a Wonder Woman). This year she’ll find Yoda, Daisy & Donald in her Easter basket, and I can’t wait to add Olaf, Sven and the Mary/Joseph/Baby Jesus set at Christmas! Right now they’re all buy 1 get 1 50% off, so it’s a great time to buy!
Charlie the Ranch Dog books – Ree Drummond (yes, the Pioneer Woman) writes these fabulous children’s books about her dog, Charlie. Madi absolutely adores them, and I was so excited to see that a new one has been released, right in time for Easter!
Minnie Mouse Umbrella – Last spring Madi started to notice that some of her friends at school would bring umbrellas if it was raining, and she kept asking for one of her own. I ignored the request until I felt like she was actually big enough to hold her own umbrella, and this year she’ll find a Minnie Mouse umbrella with her Easter basket (it’s so cute! It has ears on it!).
Edible Easter Grass – Here’s the thing. While this might just be a fun gift for the kiddo, it’s actually going to save the adults a lot of trauma. We have cats. They like to eat the crazy fake Easter grass. And then things happen that I refuse to write about and it makes me want to Lysol my eyeballs. This year? No fake plastic grass – just Easter grass that toddlers (and cats) can safely snack on!
Milk Straws – My sister introduced us to these at my niece’s birthday and they are brilliant. We no longer have to spend a ridiculous amount of money on little containers of vanilla milk – only to have Madi decide she only wants to drink chocolate milk after we’re home from the store. With these, all you need is a cup of regular milk and she can make it any flavor she wants! Each straw has little flavor beads inside, and as she drinks the milk up through the straw, it goes from boring & plain to wonderful!
In case you’re wondering what else is in that Easter basket photo, you’ll find some Peeps, jellybeans, a Frozen Easter egg, a princess toy I found in the clearance section at Target, egg shaped sidewalk chalk, and a My Little Pony bank. Because she asked for a “pony bank” and it seemed like a good idea at the time!
Big People Ideas
Jacob’s Scarf – I’ve shared about them before, but how great would it be to receive a warm, cozy scarf to wear on Easter morning? Since it’s supposed to snow here on Saturday, I think we’ll be enjoying scarf weather for at least a few more weeks!
Elegantees – I’m absolutely in love with some of the new designs that were just released recently. Specifically the Heddie, which I ordered immediately and can’t wait to show you (it will be here tomorrow! Yay!) They ship incredibly fast, which is perfect for a last minute gift (or Easter outfit!) and you can get free shipping if you use code ‘CRYSTAL’ at checkout!
DaySpring Mug – DaySpring has a new line of Karen Kingsbury items and I’m more than a little in love with them. The cards they already had with her quotes are my favorites to send, and now this line that includes beautiful office supplies just speaks all my love languages. And this mug? Well, it might be on its way to my house already!
Glitter & Gold Jewelry – Last weekend I attended an event at my salon and discovered Glitter & Gold Jewelry. Beautiful, unique pieces that don’t cost a fortune? Yes, please! I took care of shopping for Mother’s Day while we were there, and I picked up a piece for myself that I’ve been wearing nearly every day since. I think this Fuchsia necklace would make such a fun Easter gift – it’s like a little Easter egg!
Cadbury Creme Eggs – I just love them. The end.

My monthly round up post is going up well, at the end of the month ๐ but I had to tell you about Pablo. I think it was you who shared about Buffer, which I finally got around to using and I love it! Well, the creators of Buffer created Pablo, http://bufferapp.com/pablo, where you can easily create and share an image for social media posts. Don’t know if you knew about that, but I tried it and liked it ๐ Happy Friday!
