It’s Friday, which means I’m linking up with the lovely Lisa-Jo for another Five Minute Friday – you can get all the details here! My favorite part of FMF is that I never know what the topic will be, and I honestly never know what direction my post will go in when I start writing!
I’m also linking up over at (in)courage today to talk about community if you’d like to pop over there! Thanks for visiting ๐
Today’s prompt: FOCUS
GO:
Distractions are everywhere. My phone makes me accessible 24/7. People stop by at work to chat, my phone rings, my daughter needs something, my husband wants to talk, the dishes are piling up in the sink, I haven’t eaten dinner, I get another email/a response on Twitter/a comment on my blog/a new post on Facebook.ย
Multi-tasking is part of my life. To be successful and get anything done at work or at home I feel like I need to keep up the juggle. The dishwasher runs while ย I play with my daughter while hubs makes dinner and we plan for tomorrow.
I’ve lost focus.
My heart cries for rest. My mind needs to focus on the Word to refresh. I need to slow down and listen, play with my daughter before she grows up too quickly and I miss something. The Word tells me that I can’t serve two masters, so what happens to my heart, my focus, when the world pulls me to serve a half dozen “masters” while being an amazing worker/wife/mother/friend and never failing?ย
I need to focus. Take a deep breath and just stop. Make margin in my life and mind for God to wipe the sweat and tears from my eyes and paint fresh the path He plans for me.ย
STOP

Ok.. two weeks later I finally got back to your post. No, I haven’t been doing #hellomornings but I will definitely consider it. Didn’t even know it was going on!

Oh, I struggle with this one, too. One of the most difficult lessons I ever had in learning to create margin was learning how to say, “NO” now and then. Creating the margin gives me room to focus. Lovely post!!

oh girl. So true. Sometimes we just have to stop to get a grip on it all. Apparently “margin” is a buzz word in the blogging community, but I really like it. For a long time, I lived my life with every minute filled up. Now…not so much. And I like it that way.

love this post, so true, when you know where to focus everything else seem to fall in place where it should be. Life is wonderful.

Jolene – are you doing #hellomornings? I’ve been doing that too – love spending time in the Word before the family is awake…and I’m SOOOO not a morning person ๐

Happy Friday!
I think it is so important to refocus on God. It’s something I needed to do, and about a month ago I started devoting my mornings to reading the Word and starting out my day with my focus on God. It’s been hard (I’m not a morning person), but my busy life has not be nearly as overwhelming because of it.
Thanks for sharing! I’m glad I stopped by! ๐
