Sharing my favorite faith & fitness items has been so much fun! This week I’m going to focus on a few of my favorite Zumba items, plus a couple “faith” favorites that keep me focused & motivated. Let’s get to it! (affiliate links included)
Faith Favorites
Prayers that Changed History – Tricia Goyer is a wonderful writer and someone I’m so grateful to call a friend. Her new book, Prayers that Changed History: from Christopher Columbus to Helen Keller, how God used 25 people to change the world, is such a wonderful reminder of the importance of prayer. It’s a take on historical figures I’ve always known, and the significance prayer played in their lives. Each section gives an overview of the person, a “something to think about” question, Biblical commentary and a great once sentence take away. I love reading these super quick chapters to start my day, and can’t wait to share them with Madi when she’s learning about Helen Keller or St. Patrick when she’s in school.
Grace Laced – When I was at Influence last month I had the absolutely honor of spending some time chatting with Ruth Simons from Grace Laced. She is an incredible woman of God and a phenomenal artist. On the days that it takes all I have to get up, get those sneakers laced, and get to work, I look to the artwork on my walls to remind myself who I am and Whose I am. It doesn’t get much better than one of Ruth’s prints, particularly the “Learn to Love What Must be Done” print.
Belong Magazine – I have fallen in love with magazines again. From Mici to Thryve, and now Belong, there is something really beautiful happening in the print world, where well-written articles about faith meet phenomenal photography in a blog + Instagram kind of way. Belong is one of my new favorites, a sweet gift in the Influence swag bag, that celebrates the art & community of blogging. You can learn more about it here.
Fitness Favorites
Zumba – I love Zumba. I really do – I’ve been doing it for awhile now, and it’s a highlight of my week. There is such community at the studio among those of us who go and don’t care if we’re looking like fools. We’re there to workout, to have fun, and to do something for ourselves. My favorite playlist is my girl Eryn’s on Spotify – it’s hard not to have a dance party when these songs come on!
Jammin’ Jersey Pants – I tend to rock some crazy leggings when I go to Zumba, but if you want to know my absolute favorite pants on the Zumba site, it would be these. I wear them all the time – they’re incredibly comfortable and fit really well, which doesn’t always happen with Zumba gear. If you’re looking to buy a pair of pants from the Zumba site, read the reviews carefully to figure out the sizing. And I always recommend choosing a pair that has a drawstring, like these, that I have on my wishlist 😉
Weights – If you can find a Zumba toning class in your area, I highly recommend it. The first half of our class uses light hand weights – really only up to 3lbs. It might not seem like you’re doing much, but when you spend 30 minutes working your arms & shoulders, you’ll appreciate those 1 lb weights. I like these, from Amazon, if you don’t want to purchase the “official” Zumba toning sticks. You’ll be able to use those 5 lb weights for some of my other favorite workouts!
Faux Leather Tote Bag – While I know I have to haul my water bottle, towel, weights, and other items to the studio to workout, I don’t necessarily want to throw them in an ugly duffle. I was really excited to find this faux leather tote on Amazon for $33 – regularly $90 – to use to take what I need, in style. It’s also going to be handy when I travel, along with the faux leather backpack I found at Target!

That’s it for today! Let me know if you’ve found any faith or fitness favorites this week I should know about. Any great songs I should add to my playlist? Or books I should add to my nightstand?

I’m so sad that my Curves stopped doing Zumba. I miss it so very much!
