Last Thursday (the 21st) I turned 28. And guess what? So did my sister! Yay twins! Anyway, I realized I didn’t post a darn thing about my birthday, so here’s a little recap for you.
1. I got a Kindle! I’m minorly obsesesed with it and have read more books in the last week than I have in the last 6 months. It’s so fun, and I love that my mom & sister can “lend” me books from their Kindles. I’ve read the new Karen Kingsbury book, a new Janet Evonovich book, and two young adult books from my sister that I just could not put down. “Hero” (a new series) and “The Lost Hero” (this one is a continuation of the Percy Jackson books.. love). Now I’m debating what books to get next and if I should buy a little reading light for it. Thoughts? Suggestions?
2. I woke up to white roses and Allora Handmade earrings & a bracelet from hubs. He knows me so well 🙂
3. My sister got me the best nail polish color ever, and my niece colored me a birthday card! Looking at the nail polish as I type…it’s on my fingers AND toes. That’s a good color, right there.
4. I received more emails, Facebook messages, and texts than a girl could possibly respond to – I was feeling the love!
Which is awesome. And yet, I don’t love my birthday. I go through this internal debate about wanting it to be a huge deal, and having a party, and having people shower me with love and gifts, and then on the other hand, it’s awkward and I can’t wait for it to be over. I felt so much more comfortable on Friday when I woke up, knowing it was just another typical day. I’m not sure why that is – maybe it goes back to my unrealistic expectations and being disappointed when things don’t go exactly as planned (even though, to my husband’s frustration, I can’t verbalize what it is that I want to have happen without feeling guilty and selfish)? Maybe I’m just weird and need to get over it?
Who knows. But, for those of you who sent me lovely, encouraging, messages via email, Twitter, text, or Facebook – thank you. Thank you for thinking of me, for praying for me, and for being excited about my birthday. It means the world to me.
Sidenote: 28 is my favorite number. It always has been. No reason why. So I’m pretty sure this year is going to be awesome 🙂 Yay!
Thanks Donna! Kindles are amazing – I had to take a break from mine so I could get some things done – it’s crazy how many books I’ve read lately! You’ll have to know what your favorites are so I can start adding to my collection 🙂
How did I miss your birthday!! I’m so glad you had a wonderful day!! I got a Kindle for Mother’s Day and I’m with you; I haven’t read so much in so long!! I am loving it!! Thanks for the reminder that I can “lend” books. Can’t wait to try that.. Oh and thanks for reminding me to paint my toe nails! 🙂 Happy very belated Birthday!!
