When my sweet online friend Amy sent me an Asked & Answered message asking if I would please offer a webinar or online training on how to create social media graphics, I was intrigued. And then excited about the idea. And then started wondering what in the world I could offer that would make any sense at all.
So I played around with a few ideas at the end of last week and came up with something I think will be really fun – a 30 day “Creative Basics” challenge to take you from start to finish to create everything from text-only graphics to quote graphics and quite a few things in between.
Join @crystalstine as she launches a FREE 30 day social media graphics course in April! Sign up now! <–Click to Tweet!
You’ll learn:
- Where to find photos
- Some rules about fonts
- How to use Canva, PicMonkey, and three of my favorite apps
- …and by the end of it you’ll even create a free printable to offer your readers!
It’s everything I use on a daily basis, from creating graphics here for my own site, to what I share on Instagram, to the work I do for (in)courage, plus the graphic design lessons I’ve learned over the last 9+ years working in marketing. This is content that I typically share at conferences but it will be absolutely free for you!
I’ll be working this month to get all of the materials together, and we’ll kick it off in April! Here’s how it will work:
- I’ll send an email each day with the challenge and some instructions – this won’t happen on the blog, so be sure to sign up here if you want to make sure you don’t miss anything!
- We’ll check in on Instagram each day – follow me here and use hashtag #CreativeBasics
Easy, right? I’d love for you to join me – I promise we’ll take it slow and work together. You’ll get to see what I’m doing and you can follow along and encourage your fellow bloggers as they join us, too! Since I’m a huge fan of “the more the merrier,” I think this could be REALLY fun if a bunch of us do it – so I’d love for you to invite your friends!
In the meantime, what questions do you have about creating graphics for social media or your blog? I’d love have you leave them in the comments so I can make sure I answer them next month!
I signed up several weeks ago. Has the “class” started yet? I just tried signing up again and it said I needed to confirm my email but nothing ever came through. 🙁 Am I totally too late?
Unfortunately it’s too late to receive the last 20 days of emails – I’m sorry your confirmation email never went through. I checked and didn’t see your email address in the pending section either. We’ll be wrapping up the course at the end of the month, then the eBook version of the information (with bonus material) will be available on Amazon (at a special price if you want to wait until May 1st to order!)
Do you get an email when you sign up? I’ve filled out info and haven’t heard. It looks incredible.
Hi Tori! I checked and it looks like you’re confirmed on the email list 🙂 Please let me know on the 1st if you don’t receive the first email though and I’ll look into it!
I’m really looking forward to this series! I always feel like an imposter with the graphics I create. Hopefully I’ll feel more comfortable soon!
Ha! I like you, Asheritah 🙂 I’ve never considered you an imposter! So glad to have you join though 🙂
I’m in! This sounds great. Thanks, Crystal!
Me! Me! I wanna play.
Yay!
Hey Crystal, Thanks so much for offering this course. I just signed up. Heidi Maranell has been creating most of my graphics but is moving in a new direction with her business so……… I have a lot to learn. I’ve gotten pretty comfy with word swag and pic monkey but photoshop still kills me. Since the course won’t be starting until April 1, Im wondering if you know of anyone who is available to work with me in the meantime in continuing to create quality graphics for my site?
Hey girl – let me email a couple people and I’ll get back to you 🙂
You rock. Thanks!
I’d love to know any info you could provide on copyright logistics with posting graphics and photos on a personal blog. I’ve had a hard time finding answers about that and how to go about doing it. Thanks! I’m a new blogger and looking forward to what you have to share!
Hey Elizabeth! I won’t be going into too much detail on that one in this course (that’s a topic that could be a course by itself!) but I will be sharing three sites that allow you to use their photos freely and make any changes/edits without jumping through all kinds of copyright hoops 🙂 Hopefully that will at least get you started!
I’m just wanting to learn anything all I’ve done for several year is email and a little facebook and every thing has changed so much
Phyllis, I’m so glad you’ll be joining 🙂
How do I know what size to make graphics for my WordPress.org site? I have a slider that I use on & off and I’m feeling I could do a better job for the pics and graphics with this training than what I’m paying my tech guy. He’s good for issues with the site but not great at creating—that’s not his talent. Help!! Thanks so much!!!!
Hey Paige – that’s a great question, and not one I’ll be covering in this course since it’s geared toward bloggers/creatives on any platform. I know my theme came with detailed instructions that included the best dimensions for my RevSlider – maybe reaching out to the theme creator for yours might find you the best answer?
Thank you so much for doing this! I am image impaired! Looking forward to it!
Thanks so much, Kelly! I’m so glad you’ll be joining us!
Do I need an Instagram account to participate? I don’t have a smart phone.
Hey Kim! An Instagram account and smart phone are definitely not requirements 🙂 There will only be a couple days that talk about apps, so you will absolutely get a ton of helpful non-smart phone content! And Instagram is just a way for us to check in with one another, but totally optional 🙂
This is something that can’t be missed! Sure can’t beat the price! 😉 I am in desperate need of some inspiration so I’m hoping this course kicks me back in gear! I am most curious about apps. I would love to be able to do everything from my ipad and pic monkey doesn’t do that… Does Canva?
Julie!! I’m so glad you’re going to be joining me 🙂 And I’m going to cover 2 design apps and one other app I think will make your life a little easier – unfortunately right now Canva doesn’t have a mobile option at all, but hopefully they will soon! {{hint..hint..to any Canva folks…ahem…}}
I am looking forward to this! Creating graphics is something I’m just kind of “Meh” at doing. Looking forward to stepping it up and learning some new things! 🙂
I’m so glad you’ll be joining, Kelli! If there is anything specific you’d like me to cover, please let me know!
Thanks for offering this Crystal! I signed up and the gal who helps me with my graphics and blog template did too! I’m also alerting another blogger I know — thanks so much!
Thanks Valerie! if there is anything specific you gals want to learn, let me know so I can make sure I cover it 🙂
Yay! All signed up, thank you so much! Does this cover the same kind of things you are going to cover at Declare this year?
It’s going to be a refined version of last year’s Declare lab with more specific tasks, and then I’m hoping to use it to add some new items to my lab this year 🙂
Awesome, excited for April and August now!
Can’t wait to see you again Kathy!
Yay! This makes me happy. You always give the best direction and advice and I enjoyed your session at Declare last year. Looking forward to this.
That’s so sweet, thank you Jennifer!
Very excited about this, I have been wanting to know how to do more for my blog!
I’m excited you’re going to join, Jessica!
Will you be doing anything with Photoshop? Just curious. I have used picmonkey quiet a bit and use many of my own photos, but am looking for some new tips to bump up the quality of my work. Looking forward to it. Thanks!
Hey Sara 🙂 Nope, nothing with Photoshop for this one!
Signed up and invited three friends…thanks so much!
Oh I love that, thanks Sarah!
I am all signed up !!! And I am so excited about it. I love all the cute graphic I see you and others create. I can’t wait to be able to make a few of my own.
I’m just so grateful you asked the question that inspired it all 🙂
So fun and helpful! I’m in!
Woohoo!
Crystal, I’m giddy with excitement :-). It’s just what I need to give me the confidence boost I need for making graphics. Thanks!
Oh I hope it does, Mary! If there is anything specific you want to learn, let me know so I make sure I cover it!
Just signed up! Looking forward to it. 🙂
Yay! Thank you 🙂
How fun! You know I’m a graphics girl. 😉
I adore the one you just created for Deidra – so perfect for her new series!
