Welcome to my 31 Days of Encouraging Conversations series! I absolutely loved last year’s 31 Days of Community series and couldn’t wait to pray about a topic for this year! I knew God had put it on my heart to still talk about community, to keep doing my Community Introductions posts, and to continue to encourage, equip and inspire as I wrote – and conversations seemed to be the perfect combination of all of those!
So, just this month, I’ll post every day for 31 days instead of my usual 3-4 posts per week. You’ll get a mix of video chats with some of my favorite women from around the internet, devotionals, community introductions, a guest post with a giveaway, and encouragement to share with your friends.
My prayer though is that these posts are the starting place for a bigger conversation. Topics you can relate to and engage with me (and other readers) in the comments and online. I want these to be posts that you want to tuck away and keep for later when you need an extra dose of encouragement, or send to a friend you think might need to hear the message.
We’re kicking things off today with a video chat with my friend Kat Lee as we talk about mentoring – what it means to us, what it looks like practically in our lives, and how we’ve found mentors. Before you run away because that seems like an intimidating topic, let me just assure you that we aren’t trying to be experts on this topic. Not even close. But we want to share that our definition of a mentor is simply someone you can relate to who is a few steps ahead of you in your current season of life or passion. It’s not all about formal one-on-one meetings for us – and I consider Kat one of my mentors. We connect over Voxer! So we hope you’ll be encouraged as you listen to us chat!
Feel free to listen to the video like a podcast if you’d rather have it on in the background as you do other work – I’m totally ok with that 🙂 In fact, the video quality on some of these is a little … interesting… (oh, technology) so I certainly wouldn’t blame you if watching our mouths not match up to our voices bothers you. I’m not a professional, I just say “yes” to God 😉

- Read books by authors you admire
- Listen to podcasts by people who inspire you
- Spend time with God and ask Him how He wants you to grow and where He needs you in the kingdom
- Don’t be awesome in everything!
- Find your strengths & focus you energy there

This was such a nice conversation to listen to while doing a DIY project this afternoon 🙂 Absolutely love your ‘place’ here Crystal and I’m excited to listen to some more encouraging convos during some down time! I’m brand new to this blogging/online world and would love to find out more about how to connect in a mastermind group. Are their any you could recommend?
I’m so glad you’re doing this, Crystal! This might sound totally hokey, but I’ve been sensing the same direction from the Spirit since last March, but I’ve been dragging my feet on it (until THIS month for the #write31days series). So, all this to say, I’m really looking forward to your videos and also doing them alongside you. And great job being natural in front of the camera! 🙂
Crystal-Mentors, having them and being one, is huge to me. Great idea to focus on this for 31 days! I look forward to listening to the podcast, something I need to learn how to do! PS thanks for helping me with the 31 Days challenge-I’ll let you know when it posts. PSS have fun at MOMCon. I need to get there some time. – Cornelia
Love this Crystal! I could listen to you and Kat chatting all day. Such good stuff! Excited for this series. Love, Kristin
I’m excited about these lovely emails landing in my inbox each day in October. Love getting to know more inspiring women!
Oh I’m so glad, LeeAnn! I always get worried that it’s going to just be too much, but when God says “do it” I’ve gotta trust He knows no one is going to get sick of me 😉
