I wish I had a nice way to introduce this post, a sweet story or some compelling narrative, but I don’t. I just have words that I need to get out of my head and on to the page. Because it’s been a year since I started my faith and fitness journey and I need to make a few things clear.
I need you to know, from my heart, that you are not a potential sale to me. Not here on the blog, not on Facebook or Instagram or Twitter or Periscope. Not in my emails or when I see you in person. Not at work or at church or over coffee. You are a friend, part of my community, and someone I care about. I care about your story and your journey, and I don’t care if you ever buy a darn thing from me.
Seriously.
Last weekend I attended a big Beachbody event with about 1,000 other coaches and challengers. There were high profile speakers and celebrity trainers, representatives from corporate and more announcements than my brain could handle. In everything that was talked about, every tip, every incentive, every encouragement, do you know what I never heard?
Disrespect of any other company, organization, or person who offers something similar.
They could have, you know. They could have spent time teaching us how to convince people not to buy the imitators, why their programs are better than someone else, or how to elevate ourselves above the competition. They didn’t. They talked about spending time with God first. They encouraged us to help others to the best of our ability. They showed us, through example, that people are more important than programs.
So here’s the deal. I’m going to share about Beachbody and their workouts and tools because they’re what’s working for me, right now, in this season. But I’m also going to share other things I love, like Zumba and Refit Revolution and Holy Yoga and Revelation Wellness and Clare Smith. The same way I’m going to promote other women who have brilliant social media courses that I think you’ll love and not just my own Creative Basics course. And I’ll share about conferences and speakers and events regardless of whether or not I’m attending or was invited if it’s something I love and think you should know about.
I’m not going to stop sharing what I share – and I’m not going to be so afraid that competition will take away from what I’m doing that I won’t be willing to invest in community.
At the end of the day, my passion is this: to encourage other women to discover the tools they need to make fitness & healthy living fun.
What I’ll never do? Criticize you for choosing something that isn’t exactly what I’m doing. Exclude you from community or make you feel guilty because something else works better for you. What I will do? Invite you to consider this a safe space – a space where gossip and criticism and negativity aren’t allowed. Where faith, fitness and friendship come together – whatever that looks like for you.
You’re welcome here.
I love that about you, you know. And I think that’s what makes you such an amazing encourager – because it’s not about competition, but rather bringing out the best in one another. I’m so glad to know you! 🙂
??

This is why I love you, friend. <3
