I needed a Word today.
God delivered.
“Into marvelous light I’m running. Out of darkness, out of shame. By the cross you are the truth, you are the light, you are the way.” – Charlie Hall, “Marvelous Light”
Since our fabulous getaway weekend, where we basked in the glory of God’s presence and sought His direction for an important step in our family, I have been tackled. I have been mentally smacked around. I have been the only attendee at my pity party. I have been discouraged, disappointed, and depressed. I’ve desired nothing more than to shut myself off from friends. And it all happened so fast and with such ferocity, in the midst of exhaustion, stress, and busy-ness, that I fell hard under the enemy’s attack.
Not one of those things I was feeling, thinking, or doing were from God. I’m still feeling like I have one foot in the muck, but in the face of marvelous light, I know I can run.
Run toward God. Toward friends, my sisters, who love me and are the mightiest prayer warriors on the planet. Toward my amazing husband who hasn’t deserved a single one of the moody things he’s had to put up with.
Run away from the darkness, the depression and the discouragement. I am loved, by the Creator of the universe. I am here, for such a time as this, and He will fight for me. Praise God!
“God is strong, and he wants you strong. So take everything the Master has set out for you, well-made weapons of the best materials. And put them to use so you will be able to stand up to everything the Devil throws your way. This is no afternoon athletic contest that we’ll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the Devil and all his angels.
Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.” Ephesians 6:12-13 (Message)
