As I was reading Beth Moore’s blog today, I was nearly brought to joyous tears in gratefulness that I have women in my life who laugh with me. If I would only have known what God had in store for me when I prayed for mentors years ago, I’m not sure I would have believed him!
My sisters:
Laugh with me – never at me! We giggle like 13 year old girls, crack each other up with our loving teasing, and laugh until our stomachs hurt & eye water over unexpected comments.
Get goosebumps with me! We share our “God sightings” and – I kid you not – get simultaneous goosebumps when we all recognize the glory of God in the story.
Encourage me! I love encouraging others, but even the encourager needs refilled occasionally with some loving – and these girls know how to do it! A quick text in the middle of a crazy work week, an email to check in, prayers for situations big & small – all done out of the genuine goodness of their darling hearts.
Cry with me, but never make me cry! Our hearts break for one another, and when we meet in a place where we all feel safe, we’re ok taking down the masks, bit by bit, and revealing what’s really going on under the surface. While others might try to “fix,” my sisters know that sometimes the best solution is to have someone to cry with you so you don’t feel alone.
My sisters are a blessing beyond words to me, and as God continues to bless my family, I look forward to more laughter as we share what God has been doing in our lives! If the past 6 months have anything to do with it, I think God has quite the year in store for us 🙂 Bring on the laughter!
