“Amazon reminded me that your birthday is coming up.”
I had to laugh at the text from my twin sister. What would we do without Facebook and Amazon reminding us of the birthday we’ve shared for the last 32 years? {grin}
When I was little I had so many dreams and ideas of the type of college I would attend, the work I would do, where I would live. I imagined the friends I would meet and the conversations we would have. I assigned words to my future self like: successful, powerful, intelligent, independent. But I never thought about the character of the woman I would become.
Birthdays make you reflect, the same way the New Year inspires us to set goals. And the more birthdays I have, the more I’m learning to embrace who it is God created me to be.
- I’m introverted, but not shy.
- I love words and process by writing.
- I’m a good mama and wife, though I’m far from perfect.
- I believe the internet can be used for good.
- I cherish good friends, good food, and laughter.
- I actually like the woman God has refined me to be.
It’s been a long journey to feel that way.
Join me and read the rest on (in)courage today? It’s my birthday wish for myself, and I’d love you to meet Rhoda, the woman who inspired it.
Thank you for sharing this, Crystal! I believe we may be kindred spirits! 🙂 Your blog is a Godsend and it’s very encouraging to read that someone has the same thoughts I have and pray about. It has been a journey for me too but I’m loving where He is taking me. Blessings!
I’m so blessed to hear that Nila! Praying for you this morning 🙂
