On Saturday I went to one of the best concerts I’ve ever seen. We had the opportunity to go with a group of friends to the Chris Tomlin “If Our God Is For Us” concert in Hershey, PA and it was amazing. I didn’t take my camera, so the photos below were snagged from Facebook from my friend Megan (I apologize for the size, I’m too tired to figured out how to get better images tonight).
I was blessed to be able to surprise everyone with upgraded tickets to the box seats that my company owns, which were incredible! Not to mention the snazzy parking, separate entrance, elevator attendants, and personal food server. Needless to say, it was a once in a lifetime treat that I was happy to share with everyone 🙂
The concert started with an incredible performance by Rend Collective. I’d never heard of them before, but I really like them. A lot. Like I need to download their cd, stat. Did I mention they’re Irish, adorable, and they most definitely had someone playing a trashcan AND an accordion. I would go see them in concert again (I think they should come back to PA in September for Uprise Festival! Let’s work on that!).
I don’t know exactly how to describe the Chris Tomlin concert, other than to say it was a blessing. I so appreciated how they started and ended the show – completely unassuming, the focus on God and not themselves. It was beautiful to see a group of such talented individuals perform so humbly. Not only was the music great (and he performed “All My Fountains” from the Passion recording – I died – LOVE that song), it was one of the best moments of corporate worship I’ve ever been a part of. It blessed my heart to look down at the people on the floor jumping & dancing, hands raised in worship when they sang “No Chains On Me.” Absolutely incredible.
Oh and Christy Nockles is amazing. And Louie Giglio blew me away – did you know that stars make noise? Me either! It was too much for my poor brain to handle, I had goosebumps and a huge goofy grin on my face when he played the recording and they sounded like a string section. Seriously? God is so cool 🙂 My sweet husband kindly did not make fun of me for being so excited about it.
I think that’s because he was eating about a dozen free jalapeño poppers. And he loves me.

Thanks Kristi! I love Amy Grant too – I saw her last year and just loved her concert 🙂 I actually have tickets to see Michael W. Smith at the end of April at a local fundraiser….sounds like it should be a good time!

I’m right there with you Crystal! I am speachless about the concert! I want to describe it to everyone, but just don’t know how! Singing incredible worship to the God of an indescribable universe with thousands of people and the universal sounds! Simply amazing! Glad you were touched as well!

LOVE Chris Tomlin! I’m happy for you that you got to experience his show….someday I’d like to also. The fun suite and food just completed the blessing! haha
I felt this way when I saw Amy Grant and Michael W Smith this summer. I’ve seen Amy many times (she’s my fav) and always love her simplicity and truth. I had never seen Michael and I Was. Blown. Away.
You could just feel the Holy Spirit surrounding that outdoor venue. He could rock it and them bring it back down with tenderness.
Can you see your Chris Tomlin experience is causing to relive one of my own? lol Sorry about that! Glad you an awesome time!
