It wouldn’t be a Friday from me without some sort of “favorites” post – so I’m going to spend Friday’s this month sharing my favorite faith & fitness gear with you – all the things I’m loving. Definitely let me know if you have anything I should check out – I’m always on the lookout for new favorites! affiliate links included
Faith Favorites
(in)courage – I’ve been a reader of (in)courage long before I started working for them full time. I love the way the daily encouragement comes right into my inbox. Starting my day off with hope, encouragement, scripture, and stories from other women who are also works-in-progress gives me the courage to do what I need to do.
Scripture cards – I recently taped one of these little cards to Madi’s wall to remind her that a happy heart makes a face joyful. And then God used them and gave ME a word one day when I was struggling with comparison and doubt. Having little reminders like these around helps me to stay focused, and it gives me the chance to share scripture with my kiddo in a way that she loves, too.
Family Force Five “Time Stands Still” – I remember seeing Family Force Five in college and fell in love with their style. It’s exactly what I want to workout to, without having to worry about what language my toddler might overhear. I had a total dance party when Bzrk came on as I was writing this post 😉
Fitness Favorites
Yoga Mat – I thought I’d focus on yoga gear for today’s fitness favorites, since so many of the workouts I love to do end up using a mat of some sort. Whether it’s yoga, pilates, PiYo, or just floor work, having a great yoga mat has been one of the best purchases I’ve made this year. I really love this one from Gaiam, but you can find them easily at Target or Walmart. Or if you want something with extra squish, I use my Beachbody Mini Mat daily as well – it’s considerably shorter than a yoga mat, but extra thick.
Yoga Socks – I’ve also found that a pair of grippy socks can really help me hold poses longer. Our living room is hardwood, so once I get into a routine I can find myself slipping around a bit on the floor or the mat. These socks give just a little extra traction to keep you where you want to be. I also really like the Nike Studio Wraps – my PiYo instructor wears these, and I think they would be great for Pound, too.
Towel – Whether I’m doing Zumba at the studio or a workout at home, I always have a towel nearby. Occasionally they come in handy during a fun Zumba routine, but for the most part this faux-hawk rocking gal just needs to mop up some sweat. And these come in great sizes depending on what you need it for – they would also be good to travel with!
Water bottle – I’m not just talking about needing any old water bottle. If I’m going to drink half my body weight in ounces of water & float all day, I’m going to make as few trips to refill as possible. Hello, beautiful pink Nathan’s water bottle – at 32 ounces, this guy only needs refilled three times (four if I’m feeling motivated). And it makes it easy for me to mentally hit my water drinking goals – 1 bottle before coffee in the morning, 1 bottle with lunch, 1 bottle by dinner. Done. And hopefully not up all night. And did I mention it’s pink? And it’s not an annoying screw cap situation. Winning.

So those are the faith & fitness favs for the week – let me know what you’d like me to share in a future post & I’ll see what I can find for you!
I’m so glad I found (In)Courage. Love it so much. And one can never have enough of good water bottles.
And now I just went down a very loud rabbit hole by watching a bunch of Family Force 5 videos. How have I never heard of them???
I love huge water bottles, too. I have a couple huge, 30+ oz. cups with straws, but those don’t always travel as well as a bottle with a lid. Thanks for the tip! (Also, heading now to check out this Family Force Five. I’ve heard that name but don’t know anything about it! Clean dance party music is in high demand at my house…)
Hi Crystal, I’m a first-timer to your blog. I started going to the gym a year ago in October because it was another winter in Sweden and I needed a way to survive.. it was a life changer for me.. I think a good bra is my must have gym item :).. but I’m kind of basic like that
I love all these tips. I need to get some yoga socks or a new mat.. to be honest probably both. Lol.. thanks for sharing these.
Fun post, Crystal! 😀 A girls gotta have a good pair of yoga. Plain and simple.
That water bottle sounds great. I need one! Pink’s my fave and I drink a lot of water. Thanks! How would I get one?
