Growing Stronger For The Kingdom: A Chat With Erin Mohring

31 Days of Encouraging Conversations

I mention it briefly in this video, but lately I have become super passionate about choosing to chase what brings me joy. When it comes to social media, that means ignoring Facebook and focusing on Twitter and Instagram. When it comes to reading, it means more fiction and humor than non-fiction. When it comes to working out, it means Zumba instead of half marathons.

Half marathons tend to bring my friend Erin joy. But when I know what fills my heart, I don’t need to try to be her or do what she does – I can cheer for her, learn from her, and know that what God has called me to is different – and that’s ok. There’s no competition, we’re just running our own races in different ways, just the way God intended.

I don’t want to scare you away when I tell you that we talk primarily about our healthy living journeys in this video. It’s not to make you feel like you “should” be doing something or that we’re somehow experts who have all the answers. We’re not, and we don’t. We’re just friends who feel that God has called us to be good stewards of the bodies He’s given us so that we can grow stronger (not skinnier) for the Kingdom work He has planned for us.

I know you’ll be encouraged and inspired by Erin and her story. We are more about grace than numbers on a scale, and for us taking time to take care of ourselves makes us better mamas, wives, and friends because that time exercising? It’s when we meet most closely with God.

So I have to share the irony of this: I sat down with a cup of coffee with extra cream and a milk chocolate macadamia cookie and began to play this video – only to realize it was about living a healthier lifestyle 😉

Really enjoyed each of your stories! And I’ve been encouraged to make fitness more of a priority within my wellness goals.

I’d heard of Revelation Wellness but didn’t realize it was an online program – and $10 a month is totally doable in our budget! Yoga Fusion sounds like it would be perfect for me! I’m a yogi-wanna-be (still new to yoga, but I’ve found it to be helpful with some health struggles/injuries) so you’ve encouraged me there as well. And although no Holy Yoga classes are in our area yet, online may be a good place to give that program a try, too 🙂

Lastly, as a fellow introvert, these conversations have been really energizing to me this month 🙂 Just wanted to share because I knew you’d be able to appreciate that, Crystal!

I loved this conversation, Crystal & Erin! I have tired to maintain a healthy lifestyle for many years & as I get older (just turned 54 two days ago!) I have found that strength training is essential to my well-being. I have less aches & pains, more energy and generally feel better when I am faithful with my strength training. Aerobic activity is important and I do that too, but if there is a week I have to choose between the two, I will choose the strength training. I love that you guys encourage us to remember we DO have the time…no matter our stage in life, we can surely find 15-30 minutes to honor The Lord by taking care of our bodies. Thanks for sharing these resources too!
