Love came down when I was 16, full of anger and bitterness. It swept into my heart like a fierce wind and cooled the fire like a sweet summer rain. Love come down when I needed it most, and my life has never been the same.
Love came down when I was in college. Alone and lost, Love swept me into a church where I found my love for working with high school students. Where I attended my first Christian conference, led my first youth retreats, learned the Apostles Creed, met artists who created beauty because of Love. Love came down and taught me that I was worth it.
Love came down in the earliest years of my marriage, blessing us with jobs, a home, and family to support us. Love held me when friendships were lost, lives changed, and doors were closed. Love came down and spoke trust, faith, and Truth into our new family, growing our hearts stronger and closer together.
Love came down when our first baby was chosen to spend eternity with the Father before we ever had a chance to hold our child. Love came down to fill empty, broken hearts with joy almost exactly a year later when our daughter was born. Love came down. And Love stayed.
We celebrate the Wonders of His Love with our Thanksgiving Eve tradition, hosting family for a night of the most un-Thanksgiving food you could think of (this year: a southern style bbq feast). We celebrate and remember as we count down to Christmas, knowing that God sent us Love, and Love conquered the grave. We celebrate.
Because Love has blessed us. Love came down. And Love lives in this house, and we serve the one who taught us to Love because He first loved us.
