You are 9 days old today, Miss Madison. You came in to the world on your own timeline – a full week before we expected you, and gave your mom a much faster labor than she anticipated. Your size was a surprise to everyone – at 9lbs and 23 inches long, even the doctor didn’t expect that! Our lives changed from the second you appeared, and we haven’t stopped loving you since.

You take our breath away.

And your emotional/hormonal/exhausted momma is a mess of tears when she looks at those beautiful brown eyes and thanks God for you.

You love listening to Christmas music when we feed & change you. You make us laugh at the thousand faces you make when you’re sleeping, and you make your mommy worry about whether your little squeaks and noises are normal and if you can breath ok in your fuzzy outfits. You can go from screaming your head off to looking up at us with those beautiful, trusting eyes in the most peaceful way when we finally figure out what it is that you need. It melts our hearts.

Your favorite time of day? STWD….”snuggle time with daddy”….and it’s mine, too. You have him wrapped around your finger, little one, and I don’t think he minds for one second.

We have so much to be thankful for this year.
