I found a little time this evening to write and realized it’s been a super incredibly long time since I did a post about what’s going on with me personally. Not that y’all probably really care, but it’s about to happen. It’s going to be long & rambly & not include links to anything because I’m tired. Fair warning.
God is working in amazing ways in my life. I find it absolutely humbling that He put the word “commit” on my heart for this year, and every time I commit to following His will for my life, when I put down my desires and let Him do the work, He opens doors that I never even knew existed.
Life is in a bit of transition right now because of some of those opportunities. They’re all amazingly good, but they’re also big changes for my family. I’ll be doing things this year that I never dreamed about 6 months ago. Traveling to Dayspring. Helping to plan a conference for moms in New York. Flying to Texas for the Declare Conference and South Carolina for Allume. Working with some incredibly amazingly talented beautiful people. And all along the way being supported by the best husband and best friend a girl could ever ask God to bring into her life.
He sees my work as a ministry and he supports it. And me. It’s amazing.
We’re also finding ways to balance what will be a very hectic schedule for him & the band as God provides more and more opportunities for them to share the gospel through music. It will be a lot of give and take, hiring babysitters for an extra set of hands, sad goodbyes and joyful reunions but it’s going to be an amazing year.
Speaking of that little one…goodness y’all. Madison is growing up so fast! Already this year we have experienced surgery for tubes in her ears, pneumonia, the stomach bug, more colds that I can count, and even now – after the tubes – she has ear infections. But she’s also developing a huge personality, complete with an adorable vocabulary.
Words Madi says now:
Cat/meow
Dog/woof
Cow/moo
Duck/quack
Sheep/laugh (seriously..when we say “baa” she thinks we’re laughing so she thinks that’s what a sheep says)
Fish/kissy noise
Bunny/hop hop
Baby doll
Mama doll (this is what she calls me, because we call her baby doll)
Daddy
Sit (she likes to tell everyone where EXACTLY to sit now)
Book
Animals
Juice
Up
I love you (“eye wuv oo”…my heart melts when she says it unprompted)
Ball
No (this is a favorite. everything is no. even yes.)
Manny/Oso/Minnie (her favorite shows)
Shows
Shoes
Socks
Blankie
More
Bottle
Bye bye
See you
Hello
Teeth
Eyes
Nose
Color
Stickers
Bubbles
Car (my favorite day was when she asked where baby doll was, and I said “daddy’s car”…and she proceeded to say “baby doll car” for 10 minutes)
Why
I’m sure there are more, but I’d say that’s a good list for a 16 month old 🙂 She is honestly the light of our lives and continues to teach us so much about ourselves, and God’s love for us. Her favorite after dinner activity is to sit on the sofa with both of us and read books, play with baby doll or just snuggle. We’re in love. She & her daddy also have a very sweet morning routine that usually results in lots of giggles coming out of her room – though I have no idea what they’re doing, since every time I walk in, she refuses to show me 🙂
I could keep going, but I think if you’ve gotten to this point in this post you deserve a break. Or at least one of my new favorite candy bars. Have you had the Milky Way French Vanilla & Caramel? So. Good. Really – go get one & come back and tell me how wonderful it is…I think I might need to go do the same!

I love getting personal and family updates. especially since we tend to give all of our “written words” to God. He still wants us to connect with other and share our lives!
I love that time of babies first words….such a fun time!! Treasure it!
