My amazing friend Kelly has a new book that comes out today called “Battle Ready: Train Your Mind to Conquer Challenges, Defeat Doubt, and Live Victoriously.” We chatted the other day on a video we were doing about how perfectly her message and “Holy Hustle” go together. We could be competing against one another right now, trying to outdo one another in sales or marketing or promotion, but instead we’re working together – and I love it so much. She is a natural encourager, connector, and champion of other women and it is an honor to have her words featured here today.

For a long time I was anything, but…Battle Ready.
I argued with my husband, then self-condemned myself for how handled things. I considered my dreams and then counted all the reasons why I wasn’t good enough. I hoped to bless others, then got tired and did nothing. I wanted to be a person of impact, yet felt afraid to look like an embarrassment. I read God’s Word and either forgot it, or thought I was unworthy of receiving it. I knew God was with me in my mind, but discounted it in my heart. I desired to be free of man’s opinions, but always felt ruled by them.
Are you like I was? Or, are you Battle Ready? Are you empowered with the right thoughts for the hard times you may be dealing with?
We’re told: “do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” (Ro. 12:2)
I used to think this was a vague command. How do I know how to “not conform”? How do I go about “being transformed”? What does it even mean to experience a “renewing of my mind”?
Perhaps, you desire all this, but, like me, are wondering, how do I do this and why is this so important?
It is important because, after not conforming and being transformed then we “will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Can you even imagine that? We have the ability to find out God’s “perfect” will. What is pleasing. What really IS good!
This sounds like what my heart is really after!
I don’t have to conform with life as I’ve always known it. I don’t have to conform to:
- busyness
- demands that feel urgent
- what everyone else is doing
- what my mind is prone to do
- worry
- self-medication
- fear
- the lie that God is not at work in my life.
I can be transformed by:
- God’s love
- His grace at work in and through me
- Submitting to His plan.
- Clearing room for God to work
- Understanding his Word in my heart.
- Considering God afresh.
The book Battle Ready is a field manual for the mind. It will help you train your thoughts, and renew your mind through Christ in ways that will change your life.
I used to feel stuck, stagnant when I read God’s Word, unsure about how to put it in action. This book jump-started my faith, as I wrote it, like none other. It helped me realize that God is much greater than my problems, more loving than I thought and more available than I ever knew.
I am empowered. I am on offense. I am winning against the attacks that are coming against me. I am standing strong in Christ. I am believing God in my heart. I am full of peace.
You can be this way too. You can stand firm rather than wavering under self-doubt or fear. God is on your side and He wants His Word to become alive in you, then to work out through you.
Will you join me in becoming Battle Ready?
