Stacey Thacker is one of the most amazing women the internet has ever brought into my life. For years she has been a safe place for me, a good friend, a wise counselor, and a fellow lover of coffee and chocolate. I have watched her pour deeply into the lives of women through her God-given gift of writing, and she has been a champion and cheerleader for me through so many highs and lows.
When I first discovered Stacey’s writing it was through the book she co-authored, “Hope for the Weary Mom.” I was a new mama and desperately in need of some hope. And then I realized that social media gave me the chance to actually connect with an author! How amazing! And then I realized that there were these conferences for bloggers where you could go and meet – in real life! – the women who inspired you every day with their words, and one happened to be just a short drive from my home.
So I went. And I met Stacey in person, and we skipped a session to sit and chat and I adored her immediately. The hope she’d written about in her book was real and she reflected it in everything she did and said. Although Stacey and I don’t see each other often, God is so good to give us the opportunity to use technology to stay connected. Through email and Voxer, text messages and Facebook, Stacey is one of the few women who I trust deeply with my heart.
When Stacey published “Being Okay with Where You Are,” it was another book that came at just the perfect time for the season I was in – and I started to wonder if maybe she was somehow in my head, writing the words of encouragement and challenge that my heart needed to hear. So when she wrote “Fresh Out of Amazing” I decided she must have either bugged my house or been gifted with some sort of psychic abilities because YOU GUYS. This is the book that has walked me through one of the hardest seasons I’ve ever gone through.
Stacey never makes you feel like you’re being scolded by an expert when you read her words – and with topics like weariness, contentment, and being fresh out of amazing, she could. She could give you a laundry list of do’s and don’ts and take you on a one size fits all self-help journey. But she doesn’t. She invites you in, with your mess, wherever you are, and shares her mess with you. You’re in it together – which is a gift in those seasons that can make you feel so terribly alone.
Fresh Out of Amazing launches into the world today and you can grab a copy for under $9! Then pour a cup of coffee and get ready to meet a sweet friend on those pages – one who won’t judge you, but loves you too much to leave you where you are. Oh and Stacey has some fantastic giveaways happening today, so be sure to follow her on Facebook and Instagram so you don’t miss those! And be sure to head to this page to download your free phone wallpaper – it’s on my lockscreen of my phone right now because it is EXACTLY the reminder I need in this season of unknowns.
Stacey, my friend. I love you. I am so proud of the way that you’ve used the gifts God has given you to encourage women. You shine brightly and bring hope to our weary, worn out, fresh out of amazing hearts. I’m beyond blessed to know you. Congratulations on your launch day!
