God brings people into our lives at just the right time. The ones who send a note of encouragement at just the right time. The ones who bring coffee and take your kiddo for a play date so you can regain your sanity. The friends who cheer for you without a hint of competition or envy. The ones who see your heart and listen to God when He says “go.” September McCarthy was one of those “just the right time” friends for me. I don’t think she probably wants me to share all the details, but let me say that falling in love with the Declare Conference? It was all because she took a chance on me. I didn’t think I was going to be able to go last year, and then suddenly – there I was, rooming with this amazing woman who is so kind and wonderful. And has raised 10 absolutely amazing children.
Ten.
She might be my motherhood hero.
September is one of the most welcoming, grace-filled, loving women I’ve ever met. She has a heart for Jesus that shines brightly and a passion for encouraging mamas that has resulted in the creation of the Raising Generations Today Conference. I thought she was pretty amazing when she took a chance on me at Declare, but when she invited me to speak last year at RGT? Honored doesn’t even begin to describe it.
I didn’t know if I had a story to share, but she saw something in me that I doubted in myself. And the opportunity to share a hard part of my motherhood story? It was a redeeming moment. What the enemy had tried to use against me, God used for the good of His kingdom. He does that, you know?
September is a visionary, a leader among those who want to encourage mothers in their every day motherhood moments. She is authentic, beautiful, compassionate, and loving. She has taught me what it means to be considerate and gracious, to take time to pray and to pray without ceasing. September is steadfast, loyal and loving – a friend who is there for me even when we go weeks without speaking. She invests into the lives of the women in her life, and my life has been changed because of it.
