Five Minute Friday: Gift

Everyday faith, FMF

Today I’m joining with one of my favorite bloggers, The Gypsy Mama, for her 5 Minute Friday series. I’ve been struggling lately to find time to write, and hey – look at this – I found 5 minutes! It’s not going to be well written or poetic or probably even grammatically correct, but I’m writing. And that’s important. Head over to The Gypsy Mama’s site and check out the other great writers who link up with her on Fridays 🙂

Prompt: Gift

Go:
I struggle to see gifts in my day-to-day chaos. The full hamper, the dirty sink, the mold…yes…mold…in the shower. I see frustrating co-workers, long days, no “me” time, and not enough caffeine to make it all happen in the few hours I have every day.

It takes a major change of mindset, attitude, and focus to see the gifts in the chaos. To see that the full hamper is a sign that we have clothes to keep us warm and that our daughter is lucky enough to go through 4 outfit changes in a day at daycare – repeatedly. The dirty sink means we have food in our fridge and clean water to drink. The mold in the shower … ok there really probably isn’t a gift there, that’s just gross, but we have a shower, with warm water, that all of us can enjoy.

Frustrating coworkers? I’m blessed to have a job. Long days? I can see a gift of a busy life, that I’m “needed” to do things, and people find value in my work. No “me” time? I have a precious daughter and amazing husband who make me laugh and smile. Not enough caffeine? Probably a good thing {grin}

God doesn’t forget to give me gifts or over look me in the distribution. I just need to refocus and put on my “yay God” glasses so I can actually see the blessings.

End.

    This is great! Oh how I feel the same way often, especially during my daughter’s first year. We have mold in the shower, too, drives me nuts. I love how you turn it all around into gratitude for what God has given you, such a good reminder for me. Glad I found your blog 🙂

    Great post! I too have mold…it is under the calking…uggh! But, yes, we have warm water, toilets, clean water, so many gifts…and then there is the freedom we have in America.  Thank you for the reminder of how RICH we really are! Have a great and blessed weekend.
