Five Minute Friday: Graceful

Everyday faith, FMF

It’s another Five Minute Friday … day… ๐Ÿ™‚ Linking up with Lisa Jo – I’d love for you to join (and welcome & thanks for visiting if you’re new to the blog!)

Now, set your timer, clear your head, for five minutes of free writing without worrying about getting it right.
1. Write for 5 minutes flat โ€“ no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3.ย And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community..
Today’s topic: Graceful
Go!
Her little feet trip, caught up on things seen and unseen. Graceful, she is not. It’s new though, the attempts to put one foot in front of the other. She doesn’t know to see what might be in her path, doesn’t know how to step over, step around, divert. My daughter, she only sees the goal ahead and will blaze a tiny trail of toys, socks, and books on her way.ย
Those steps, the crawling – it’s not perfect. She’s not moving with the grace of ballerinas, the skill of those with decades of practice. In this family, we don’t do many things gracefully anyway. We stumble, get caught up. But my little one inspires. She doesn’t give up. She sets her eyes on the prize and goes for it, using whatever small skills and experiences she’s had to get herself there. Not quickly. Not perfectly. But the result?ย
She takes two steps toward daddy. Off balance. Not holding anyone’s hand. Just a huge smile on her face, knowing that at the end of those first two steps will be the man who loves her more than life. And maybe a Cheerio or two ๐Ÿ™‚ย
Stop.

Awe – I love this. She is adorable, and you have captured her determination perfectly! I some times wish I had the same eye-on-the-goal that my girls have in my faith!

Beautiful. If we all could remember to be like children…there would probably be a lot more joy in the world. Great image of how being “graceful” doesn’t really look like we think it should, that it’s more about an attitude and an acceptance.
