Five Minute Friday

Today’s prompt: Bare
GO:

There are days when these dreams of ours will lay our hearts bare for the world. When the baby-steps we’re taking turn into “Look at Me” magnifying glasses for our biggest fans and biggest critics and we fight to remember that we do it to please God.
When that next step happens, when our toes inch closer to the finish line of a goal we never even knew we wanted to start, there is an unveiling. Our hearts stop being so hard and start to feel renewed with soft, tender skin. Beautiful and new but oh so easy to damage.
It’s the scary part. Doing it anyway when you’ve felt hurt before. Knowing what could happen amid so many unknowns. Trying not to focus on pleasing all of those around us and instead stopping for a moment to feel the soft whisper of our Father saying  “well done.”
Because in the end? If these God Sized Dreams of mine to write, encourage, worship….if they turn into anything? I want them to be laid bare before the throne of the King and know that they are honoring to Him, even if they aren’t what the world wants or needs.
STOP

Encouraging words of hope and abandonment of self. I love how you wove together the need for Jesus to be glorified, as we in the flesh still must promote.to attain our goals. Great post.

Such an excellent point that all things we do are for him, for his glory. Wonderful 🙂

Do It Anyway… Do It Scared… it – (He!) – is worth the risk! Love this!

it’s a fine wire to balance on when the thing that you do to bring glory to God also brings some to self. How much can you accept and how to you also give it back to God. I think the big problems come when this happens without awareness. You, your dreams, and your words are all a blessing to me and I see God working through you in a mighty way, Crystal!

I was praying about this very thing today, thinking on my motivation for doing the things I do, and the need to continually place it at His feet.

What a beautiful reminder to do things not for ourselves, but for the Lord. It’s hard not to get caught up in the desire for fame and glory, forgetting that true glory comes from above. Thank you!

It’s the scary part. Doing it anyway when you’ve felt hurt before. This so resonates with me. I too want to lay my heart bare for God to change. Thanks for your words and encouragement.

oh friend, such encouraging words! 🙂 Just what I needed to hear tonight. Thoughts I’ve been thinking but couldn’t even form into words, much less sentences! I’m soo tired of my hard heart and I want to bare it open for God to change… I think it’s easier to keep it covered and protected, but in reality He can protect it so much better than I can!
