Five Minute Friday: Here

FMF

Today’s prompt: Here

GO:

“Sit, mama” and she pats the seat beside her. Here. Always beside her. On the sofa, at dinner, the doctors office and at the park. Our little girl is going through a phase, a mix of growing independence and wanting a comforting hand to hold at a moments notice. She runs like lightening on little toddler legs that make our house sound like it goes for miles, only to rush back with blanket, baby doll, a million pillows and oh yes..on more blanket…to snuggle on the sofa.

Here? Where the needing is constant and the thanks are few? Where I’m one foot in the land of motherhood, one foot in the land of God Sized Dreamers, and the rest of the time doing what needs to be done to make sure that little girl has all she needs? I don’t always like it here.

But I know that here, with this slice of what God has created for me, is where I’m supposed to be right now or He wouldn’t have me in it. I know that my “here” might not be where I want to be, but it’s where I’ll learn how to get “there” one day.

And for now, I wait for the little one to tell me “sit, mama.” Because after a day of making all the decisions, fighting the battles, searching for open doors…sometimes it’s just nice to have someone want you to sit. Here. With them.

God teaches us so much in the tension between where we are and where He wants us to be. And though we are to treasure the moments we have with our little ones, I believe the discontentment we have in our hearts is what God uses to propel and compel us to seek Him, to press in and press on for what He has for us until we find contentment in Him, no matter what.

It’s a dichotomy, I know, and yet, it’s right where He wants us in order to prepare us for what’s next. Just remember in all that seeking for open doors, not to let your eyes wander off the greatest prize. I love you so much!!!

It’s all about right priorities. BTW – she is such a cutie pie. How could you resist anyway. πŸ™‚ (I got coffee. Did you get a taco?)

” one foot in the land of motherhood, one foot in the land of God Sized Dreamers … I don’t always like it here.”

I wrestle with this tension. There is so much beauty in each moment, and I am praying for the eyes and contented heart to see the wonder and joy He has given in it all. I so resonated with this post, Crystal. Beautiful.

This speaks so clearly of the difficult stretching that happens between mommyhood and other dreams. You can be excited about and committed to both, but sometimes it hard to “sit here” as requested. On behalf of your daughter, who may not realize the sacrifice it is to sit (even when you want to), thank you.

A snapshot of a moment to cherish – I love this “here.” And the way you talk about splitting time between motherhood and the land of God sized Dreamers – I can really relate to that. Blessed by this post – and really, overwhelmingly blessed by the warm welcome at the #FMFParty last night. This is me, 3BeesBlueBonnet – loving every minute of making new connections.

so sweet. I can just see the tiny hand patting the couch! To just be with our children is the best thing ever! I’ve spent hours in the quiet moments of my kids days–I just want to soak up the love in the slow moments of their lives–before it gets all busy and crazy. Be Blessed.

That is truly one of my favorite parts of being mommy to a little girl…sitting next to her. Holding her hand. Giving her as many hugs as I can. What a blessing. πŸ™‚ (P.S. Too bad we don’t live closer…our girls would have fun together! And the mamas could chat it up…) Love this post, friend! πŸ™‚
