Confession: I don’t like baseball. {gasp} I know. I hope we can still be friends. It seems so…un-American, right? I might was well admit that I also don’t like apple pie all that much. There we go. Thanks to the 5 of you who are still reading, I appreciate that 🙂
Anyway – while I don’t like baseball, or really care to understand it, I do happen to like my husband an awful lot. Which means that his “almost-a-father” Father’s Day gift this year was tickets to see his favorite team play. Bless his heart, he just has to love one of the worst teams in Major League Baseball, but at least the Orioles aren’t far from where we live. The things I do for love {wink}

This past Sunday we went to see his Orioles – and yes, he does talk like he’s a paid member of the team…anyone else’s husband do that? – and on the way, we just happened to conveniently make a stop by Ikea. {happy dance}. As much as I don’t like baseball, I am THAT MUCH in love with Ikea. I could spend hours in there, but fortuntely for hubs, we knew exactly what we wanted, where it was, and were in and out in under an hour. We knew we wanted a dresser for Madion’s nursery and a table to use for our office desk….what we didn’t know we wanted was the $10 butcher block cutting board that Matt found and the $3 glass serving bowl that I found. Score! I can’t wait to show you final photos of our office and nursery when everything is complete. If I posted a photo now it would just be clutter, dust, cat fuzzies, and randomness. Photos coming soon though, I promise!
After leaving Ikea – with plans to come back in the fall, yay! – we went on our merry way to the Orioles game. Here’s the thing. I bought him tickets to see this game in June. I had no idea that the day of the game would be in the middle of a crazy heat wave. So we were both a little apprehensive about the possibility that our tickets might put us out in the middle of the direct sun at 1pm on a Sunday afternoon, with no shade, and a heat index of 105 degrees. Did I mention I’m pregnant? Ahem. Praise God, our seats were under a large overhang, so it was shady the entire time! I loved the look on Matt’s face when he saw where our seats were (combination of relief for the shade and happiness about how close we were to the field). With the shade, loads of ice water, ice cream…ok, it was the wierdest not-cold ice cream I’ve ever eaten, but it was good…no one sitting directly beside us, and the occasional breeze, we actually made it through 8 innings! We left a little early, stopped by Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner, and made it home by 7pm.
It was a great day 🙂 I think we might just have to make it a tradition….including the visit to Ikea!
