So Much Inspiration, So Little Time

Everyday faith

My family loves books.

Serious. Funny. Kids. Fiction. Non Fiction. Romance. How To. Devotionals.

Real life paper books and books on our Kindles.

And we all really hate when a good book is made into an awful movie. Especially when the main guy is cast completely wrong and ruins the picture we had in our heads.

See up there in the list of books where I added “How To”? While I have dreams of being a DIY master and creating home decor with only a glue gun, a few sheets of poster board and some glitter….well, it’s just not me. But a girl can dream right? (Maybe one day. When I don’t work so much. And my daughter can help).

Fortunately for me, my mom – who passed down the love of books and every related to stationary products (but that’s another post) – has so kindly gifted me with three amazing books over the last few months. So while I might not have the time, energy, or creativity to actually make anything out of these – the dream lives on!

From L-R: “Make it Sew Modern” by Vanessa Christenson, aka “V&Co“
“home, paper, scissors” by Patricia Zapata
“The Crafter’s Guide to Taking Great Photos” by Heidi Adnum

In “The Crafter’s Guide”, Heidi goes through some amazing tutorials on how to use your camera out of “auto” in a way that makes sense to people like me. Aka, not photographers.
Also, I’m not a crafter. It’s a great book. And I want to buy everything she photographs because they are amazing and handmade and lovely. But mom had a bit of an ulterior motive for this one – SHE is the crafter in the family 🙂 Guess who has the camera?

In “home, paper, scissors” Patricia has incredible. incredible. incredible. tutorials on how to make some of the most amazing crafts out of paper. Like this bowl. Made from magazines.
Magazines, y’all.
Seriously?
If I had two weeks and an unlimited budget, I would find a way to make everything in this book.

Last, but not least, “Make it Sew Modern” – if, for some unknown reason you don’t already follow V&Co and her amazing tutorials & blog posts, go now. You won’t regret it.
Um. Did you notice that my mom got me an autographed copy of this book?
Autographed.
By the author.
{big book nerd sigh of happiness}

In all seriousness, I’ll never make this. but I love it. And I wish I could pull off the big pop of color flower on my sweater, but I’m a banker. It just doesn’t look that cute on me.
So there you have it – my latest in crafty inspiration.
While I might not have time or energy or the skills to do any of the “How To”s in these books…I took photos OF the books. AND wrote a blog post. That counts…….right?
