Getting Out Of The Way

community, encouragement, Everyday faith

when-im-most-outside-of-my-comfort-zone-im-most-required-to-lean-on-gods-provision

I’m not sure where to begin with this post. God was so gracious to give me the words and the outline for last month’s series, and now I feel a bit stuck. What do I share next? Are you terribly tired of hearing from me? I hope not, because over the last few weeks my love for this space and these words has returned.

I can’t be here every day, but I do hope to be around more often than I’ve done in the past. I have some gift guides to share with you for the holidays, some special Advent recommendations, a few book reviews, an email series, and a course that launches soon – not to mention my usual encouragement.

The funny thing about all of this is that I finally came to place where I was at peace if I never blogged again. I thought leaving was the right choice. I closed doors to dreams I’d once had, ready to move on. I made excuses about how  little time I had. But God. He knows exactly how He created me, and I just can’t escape my love for words and stories and building community.

As soon as I took off the heavy baggage of expectations I’d placed on myself, God opened up the doors. Speaking, encouraging others through this course, signing with an agent after a conversation that could only have been a gift from God – it’s all Him. I got out of the way and it made room for God to make all the difference.

I’m still a major work in progress. This freelance boss-mama thing is hard and scary. Signing with an agent is intimidating and scary (even though she is delightful and a perfect fit). Launching a course and not knowing if anyone will sign up is scary. When I’m most outside of my comfort zone I’m most required to lean on God’s provision. So, bring on the scary, unknown, out of my comfort zone opportunities – because at the end of the day, anything that happens out of it will have nothing to do with me, and everything to do with God.

In case you’re interested in checking out a few of the things I’ve mentioned above, here are the details:

  1. Join me for a free 5 day email series called “Holy Hustle” – we’ll explore the worth of our work and discover what it means to hustle after the right things for God.
  2. Join Brian Dixon and me for an 8-week live, hands-on experience to take your blogging, writing & creating to the next level. “Clarity Coaching” will provide you with the tools, guidance, and encouragement you need to make 2017 your best year yet. Learn more and sign up here.
