Ah! You guys! Write 31 Days starts tomorrow and I could not be more excited for the writers who are joining this year. There are more than 1700 of them in our private Facebook group and they are a DELIGHT. I’ve never been in a group of writers with the same goals who are as encouraging as these talented friends. And of course I can’t stop the idea train so this year I’ve added sponsors, a Spotify playlist, giveaways, live Facebook chats, mastermind groups, and something REALLY REALLY exciting that will hopefully kick off in November. {rubs hands together in glee}
Since it’s Friday and I won’t be doing any favorites here during my own Write 31 Days series, let’s get started with some books that I’ve been loving lately (affiliate links included).
Play with Fire – Bianca Olthoff
I totally judge books by their covers and this one? Gorgeous and somehow kind of shimmery. I don’t know how they did it but I need more of it in my life. Bianca is an incredibly powerful speaker and someone I’ve come to admire for the way she uses humor, kindness, and passion to share her message. If you feel like God is taking you through a refining season of change and need to know you aren’t alone, grab this book. You’ll be encouraged, challenged, and inspired.
Good Good Father – Chris Tomlin
I had the chance to read this one early and you guys! I need to go buy the actual version for Madi because it is delightful. The story follows a kind-hearted little bear who sees so many of his neighbors hurting and he decides to visit the King for help. It’s a wonderful way to introduce the names and characteristics of God to your little ones, and the illustrations are as beautiful as the words. It will rank up there with Audrey Bunny for us.
The Undoing of Saint Silvanus – Beth Moore
I am just wrapping up the Mitford series and looking for a new novel – and then this beauty showed up in my mailbox! I loved listening to Sophie & Melanie talk to Beth Moore about this book on their podcast, and can’t wait to meet the characters she came up with in a story based in New Orleans. The book came with a little Q&A and I thought I’d share some of my favorite lines from it.
- “I am ambushed by the love of story from both sides of my bloodline.”
- “I’m praying for someone to pick it up who could never picture herself the type Jesus would seek out.”
- “Dear Lord in heaven, I pray this wasn’t a colossal waste of time. We’ll find out.” (that one made me laugh)
Disney Tsum Tsum Advent Calendar
I learned my lesson with the Lego Advent calendars – if you wait until it’s actually December, you won’t be able to find what you want or you’ll be forced to pay twice as much for it. So I’ve already ordered this one for Madi and I think she’s going to love it. Frankly we had enough of the Lego pieces and the new sets didn’t look remarkably different from what we’ve had in the past, so I branched out. Time will tell if she actually DOES like it!
I also have some Lularoe for sale to make room in my closet – all are new with tags or only tried on (new without tags). Shipping will be around $6. Let me know if you’re interested in any of it!
