So I’ve decided to give the blog a mini facelift this week, just to clean it up. I’ve gotten rid of the sidebar, changed some things on the homepage, and hopefully made it so that when you get here, you can breath easier and feel more focused.
Plus I just like rearranging the virtual furniture now & then 😉
This week has flown by, and we’re on the single digit countdown to summer break, which also means more time outdoors, visiting with family, traveling, and eating s’mores. I’ll be honest – I don’t care how hard I’m working out or eating clean the rest of the week, if there’s a campfire and a marshmallow around, this mama is having herself a s’more!
I’ve got a couple fun favorites to share this week & can’t wait to share some other summer fun (including a trip we have planned for Madi) soon, too!

Read
Anything by Jennie Allen – I guess you could read that two ways. Read anything Jennie Allen writes, because the woman is amazing, OR read her book “Anything.” I support both statements {grin}. Last week I shared my “anything” story that I recorded and this week I finally got my hands on the new revision of “Anything” that has recently released, and I love it. It’s going to be one that I sit and savor for awhile because I want to go through the study that is included in the back. And because quotes like
“What if we wanted what God wanted most? What if we wanted, like Jesus, God’s glory above every other thing?”
make the hair on my arms stand up & my hands crave a pen to start scratching notes in the margins.
Made to Crave by Lysa TerKeurst – I’m the last person on the planet to read this one, right? A friend gave it to me a few weeks ago and it’s been such a wonderful balance to read Lysa’s book while trying to get healthier. Because I don’t struggle with the workouts, I struggle with food.
I’ve learned that I reward myself with food, I comfort myself with food, I throw mini inner hissy fits when I think I’m being denied something I want, and I lack some serious will power when it comes to eating before bedtime.
I’m loving Lysa’s honest, relatable, encouraging message, because a healthy relationship with food is definitely part of my desire to be a good steward of this one body God has given me.

I mean, come on. How can you NOT love this?
Wear
We Will Be Free tank by Sudara – how amazing is this tank? I follow Sudara on IG and just fell in love with this shirt. With every purchase, you invest in the growing hope of brave women who are rebuilding their lives, free from sex-slavery.
The shirts are incredibly soft, beautifully designed, and I had just the hardest time choosing when I was browsing their site. While you might not see me rocking a pair of their Punjammies (super cute, just not my style), I will most definitely be living in this shirt all summer.
I’d love to know which one of their shirts is your favorite!
OPI “Chiffon My Mind” – I am currently obsessed with this nail color. Obsessed. It’s the perfect light, shimmery white for summer. It’s the neutral polish I didn’t know I needed until I bought it and now I can’t live without it. It’s definitely a more sheer, shimmery white than it looks in the photo – I had to put 3 coats on to get it to the coverage I wanted. I actually really love the whole “Soft Shades 2015” collection and might need to add “Make Light of the Situation” and “Petal Soft” to my nail polish rotation.
Support
Studio Z Expansion – The studio that I go to every week, three times a week (sometimes 4) is looking to make a big move so that more people in our community can come & learn to fall in love with taking care of themselves. And I want to invite you to consider contributing to the Go Fund Me account.
- Love supporting small, local businesses? Check.
- Love how community is built around some of the craziest things (like Zumba!)? Check.
- Love encouraging women as they pursue their dreams? Check.
- Love how the internet can come together in little donations of $5 and $10 and make something big happen? Check.
How fun would it be if this was shared? And supported? And funded by women across the country – not because they got anything out of it, or would ever even step foot in the new studio, but because they simply wanted to help lift another woman’s dreams up?
If we do it, I might even convince Amanda to let me Periscope one of our Zumba songs so you could Zumba with us some night! How fun would a live, virtual Zumba party be?
