When I worked for (in)courage, one of my favorite parts of my job happened when we would open up guest post opportunities a few times each year. I loved coming up with the themes, interacting with other writers, and sending emails with the good news that their post would be published on the site.
Sending the the emails with a “no” wasn’t as much fun, because we would inevitably receive hundreds more submissions than we had space for – but even then, it taught me how to communicate news – good and bad – with kindness and encouragement.
Writing guests posts for other blogs and websites helped me to become a better writer. I learned to take the time to understand their audience and prayerfully consider whether my style and story fit their needs. If it did, and the post was rejected, I knew I had at least written something that was true to ME, and I could share it here. If it was accepted, I knew I had a better chance of connecting meaningfully with readers who might enjoy my other work – and who would see that I was the same person on a guest site, my own site, social media, and in person.
Over the past few months I have received some really amazing stories in emails, Facebook messages, and on Instagram. So many of you have shared how “Holy Hustle” has encouraged you, changed how you view work, or inspired you to do the thing God is calling you to do. As an author, those messages mean SO much. I love hearing how you discovered the book, how you’re reading it with your book clubs, and what the YouVersion devo has meant to you.
If you have a holy hustle story, I would love to invite you to share it here in January! Here are some of the topics I’m looking for:
- A Holy Hustle New Year – how you’re using the message of Holy Hustle as you think about resolutions, your “one word,” or your dreams for 2019.
- Your Holy Hustle Story – how has the message of Holy Hustle changed how you view work, rest, or your relationships?
- A devotional on your favorite Scripture from Holy Hustle.
If you would like to submit a guest post for consideration, here are the details:
- Word count: 500-700 words
- Format: Word or Google Drive
- Send to: crystal @ crystalstine.me
Posts should be original content, thoughtfully edited, and should not contain any images, graphics, or affiliate links. Please include a brief bio (3-4 sentences) and a headshot if you would like one included. If your post is published in January, please be prepared to share and promote on your own social media channels.
Happy writing, friends! And please, feel free to share this invitation with someone you know who might be interested – it would be an honor for me to make space here to share your holy hustle stories.
