Behind the Scenes: The Tea Party

Behind The Scenes

Thank you to everyone who linked up last week! It was such a blessing to read your stories 🙂

crystalstine.meWHAT IS THE “BEHIND THE SCENES” LINK UP?

Social media and online relationships can make us feel like everyone else has it all together. We’re edited, proof-read, Pinterest-perfect versions of ourselves  (or so some might think!) when – in reality? There is an unfinished pile of laundry around the corner. That cute toddler smiling for the camera just had a massive meltdown seconds ago. That yummy breakfast-for-dinner you just showed us on Instagram? It’s because the cat licked the chicken that was supposed to be for dinner.

“Behind the Scenes” is a fun link up where we show those photos – but tell the real story behind them. The sneak peek behind the scenes, a look past the edges of the photo to the real life behind it.

You’re invited to join in – we’ll write up our posts & link up on Tuesdays! Read more here!

The Photo:
The Story:
It was like Mary Poppin’s magical bag. The fabric Dora box filled to the brim with tea party supplies, carefully purchased, chosen, sorted, prepared for two little girls. Little ones with hearts as big as the miles between their homes, best friends, cousins, ‘ella and Madi.
It was a little girl’s dream come true. Fairy wings, beaded necklaces, bracelets, tutus with flower petals sewn inside the layers. Scarves, hats, and fancy dress up shoes. They wore matching dresses and drank lemonade out of miniature tea cups. Bowls piled high with snacks covered the quilts on the ground. Madison thought it would be a great idea to lick several of the mini cinnamon rolls…and really? Who could blame her? They were pretty yummy {wink}. And she “may” have tried to lean too far into that fabric box and had a bit of a scare when she fell in. I promise I didn’t laugh too much 🙂
These two sweet girls, my mini-me and my niece? They love each other fiercely. Bella takes care of Madison, and Madison watches every move Bella makes. Behind the scenes of the tea party is a countdown though, a knowledge to the adults that these moments together will be over again all too soon, the dress up clothes packed up, everyone back at their own homes a few hours apart. But these girls? They don’t know that. Sure, Madi walks around the house for a few days asking for “my ‘ella” and expects her to be at Grammy’s house when we visit. But when they get back together, a week from now, a month from now? It’s like no time has passed at all.
They make my heart melt.

Ah. Sweet girls. My Faith just turned 3. She knows her cousin Hope (almost 2, living in Honduras) from computer pictures and her memory of Christmas. She calls Hope her baby sister. lol. She mothers her to death when they’re together.

Love this…I love the ability of our littles to soak up moments completely and not think about what might be coming. My girl and I are headed to see my family in a few weeks for what will be her last visit with her cousin, Sofia, in a long time. We already live six hours away, and they are moving about 20 hours in the opposite direction. But I know the two of them will be like this…play and love (and probably lick the cinnamon rolls, too!) and not thinking about the impending goodbye. Lots to learn from them. 🙂 Beautiful post, my friend…I’ve been thinking of you and praying. I hope you’re doing well. Blessings on your day. 🙂

There is just so much cuteness in that picture. I love how children have no sense of time in that regard – there is not awkwardness that comes with being apart – just sheer joy of seeing each other again.
