Wasting Time :)

Everyday faith

I admit it. I’m wasting time in the name of all things “blog” so that I don’t have to tackle the 9,000 projects I’ve gotten myself into. I suppose I’ve actually been “assigned” some of them, but that certainly isn’t helping my motivation right now!

I have discovered a few things about myself recently:
1. I like to be asked to work on important projects
2. I jump in with both feet and get to work, organizing, planning & brainstorming
3. At a certain point, my insecurity & fear take over and I begin to freak out, thinking that I can’t possibly handle this project, and they really should give it to someone else. I’ve even been known to plan ways to get out of projects by passing them off to someone else.
4. Somehow, the project gets done, and I breath a sigh of relief.

Is there a way to skip step #3? It happens a lot, the overwhelming feeling of imminent failure because I know I just can’t possibly handle everything I’ve signed up for. Right now, I’m working on crazy projects for work, suddenly “managing” a band, handling more responsibilities than ever for the church, and planning a simulcast event. But this is my heart’s desire:

“It is vain for you to rise early, come home late, and work so hard for your food. yes, He can provide for those whom He loves even when they sleep.” Psalm 127:2

I suppose I should stop trying to convince myself that I’m in this alone, shouldn’t I?
