I don’t believe in those weird twin things. You know, the ones where one sibling breaks an arm and the other one feels it, across the country? That’s just not normal, and I think that if you actually feel that, you might want to go get your own arm checked. The closest Kat & I have ever come was buying sneakers the same weekend when we were at college (across the state, not across the country). I don’t think that counts, I think we just needed new sneakers at the same time because we live similar lifestyles and are the exact same age. I also find those “twin conferences” creepy, but that’s for another post at another time…
Here’s the thing though: I have always had dreams about running. I’m not going to anything specific, or running from anything. I’m just running, and it’s wonderful. In real life, I’m not particularly athletic. I have zero endurance and I’d rather do an hour of yoga than go for a jog – I know what to do with myself when I do yoga. When I try to jog/run, I’m like Elaine dancing on Seinfield. Enjoy that image? Thought so. I want to say that Kat has had this dream before too – I think we talked about it once – and now that she has decided to attempt the Couch to 5k program, I’m even more sure about it. And I want in!
Since I’m sitting on the couch with a cup of tea and a fuzzy blanket, watching the History Channel while I type this, I definitely have the “couch” part of the equation covered. Do I dare attempt the 5K part? I would love to do it – I’ve always wanted to. Maybe now is the time to see what God can do – if He can part the seas and turn water into wine, I know He can turn this couch potato into a runner! Well, at least a jogger. Or, if nothing else, I’m pretty awesome at yoga 🙂
“start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls!” Hebrews 12:1-2 (The Message)

Oddly enough, I have those running dreams all the time. C25K is something I’ve had as a goal for the last few weeks, but first I need to get the okay from my doctor since I’ve had so many problems with my knees and hips lately. Also, I’ve got to invest in some good running shoes…mine are approximately 5 years old at this point. Just remember, you were new to yoga once, too, and look at you now 🙂

Plan to do a 5k with me in July! You should also become a fan of c25k on facebook, they have good articles that they post daily. Oh, and I feel just as clumsy, I just look at it as good activity that will make my life better and try not to care who sees me (lol, or I plan to run in a hat and shades so no one can recognize me ;-P)
