I have a new poster in my office, a Naptime Diaries print that declares this truth:
“The King is wild for you. Honor Him for He is the Lord.” Psalm 45:11
Wild for me. There’s something about that phrase that makes my heart skip a beat, the way you feel when you get amazing news or have an incredible secret you can’t wait to share. More than any description of the Father’s love – which I’ve always struggled with – this one? A God who is wild for me? I can get that.
There are a lot of voices right now in the company I keep and the social media platforms I hang out on, demanding things. Asking things, wondering things, expecting things. Pushing into my periphery with “shoulds” and “coulds” and “this is who you are if you don’t.” And those voices can be loud and intimidating.
When they’re telling me what to write, read, buy, wear, share, or make, I begin to forget Who is wild for me and start to focus on the wildly unreasonable expectations of the internet. I stop honoring the One who is wild for me, and I start to make decisions that honor the opinions of others.
Don’t forget:
Twitter is not the boss of you.
Facebook is not the boss of you.
Pinterest and their new buyable pins are not the boss of you.
This blog post is not the boss of you.
Those unanswered emails in your inbox are not the boss of you.
The King is the boss of you. And He is WILD about you. He wants a life of wild freedom and joy for you – not a life bound in fear of what others think or expect. His plans for you are good, and He is FOR you. The voices that yell so loudly from the inside of your computer, from the newsstands, from the television – they have an agenda for you. But they are not wild about you.
God is – and will be, because He created you and chose you. You are His. So honor Him. Go to Him first when the noisy expectations push in and ask for wisdom. Lead out in grace and peace and kindness until you know for sure what God is asking you to do. Then do what God is calling you to do with wild obedience, knowing that the King has your back.
Love wildly, because you are wildly loved.

Beautiful, Crystal! I needed this reminder today. Struggling with sleep deprivation, and I am so glad I am wildly Loved in the midst of this moment right now. Thank you for posting.

Oh Kelly, I’m so sorry about the sleep deprivation. Praying rest and peace over you today – I know how hard that is. xoxo
