I think by now you have all figured out that I am not a ‘DIY’ blogger. Oh you could certainly browse back through some of my early blog posts and find my attempts. Horrible photos of projects that I honestly didn’t even really do anything with after they were created.
Being creative? Having fun with crafts, glitter, washi tape, and all manner of jewelry making/card making/paper twirling doodads? Bring it on. You know I love me some glitter. But documenting it and taking the time to make it perfect, slowing down to show the step-by-step instructions? I’ll be honest. It’s highly like that someone else already did that…because I’m probably using their tutorial!
The one thing I have done a pretty decent ‘DIY’ on is this blog. Oh it started out with a standard template that I didn’t bother to customize. But over the years I found myself wanting to add, change, move, and make it mine – with a budget that demanded I go find out how to do it online. For free.
So I found a collection of websites, pieced together enough information and basic HTML knowledge to get by and have figured out how to get my blog from where it was to what you see now. I don’t think it’s all that bad but I know myself. I’m a writer, not a website developer or graphic designer. But I know amazingly talented people who are. From my day job to the work I do on the side I’ve come across a community of exceptionally skilled individuals who don’t just run businesses. They’re passionate about what they do, and they have a love for teaching others.
Maybe you’re looking for some ways to grow the community on your blog but need a little help – you’re willing and able to do the work yourself, with guidance. I have two links for you (affiliate links included):
