A photo recap of our weekend. Hubs surprised me with a fantastic trip to Philly, our first overnight without the little one. We went to all of my favorite places, and spent Friday & Saturday reminiscing about my time spent at Villanova. It was a great way to reconnect 🙂
Starbucks. Essential.
Did a little shopping at Babies R Us. These cuties didn’t come home with us, but a pair of cupcake PJs and a baby gate made it into the cart.
Love. Him.
Philly!
The view from our hotel room. We stay at the Loews when we visit the city and had an exceptional room this time. But really, you can’t go wrong. The best part — there was at least one wedding there and we were FAR away from them 🙂
All dressed up after my 75 minute surprise massage.
What now?
Yeah…we walked into our room & hubs shared that I had 10 minutes to go to the spa level because we were both getting massages.
My eyes almost fell out of my head.
It was wonderful. Except the parts that were painful because we’d just gone to the gym in the morning and every. thing. hurt. But the mint cucumber body scrub? Sigh.
PS this dress cost me $8 at Target. And I got a “lookin good ma’am” from the concierge. FTW!
Morimotos. Adore.
Started with an appetizer of Australian Wagyu that we cooked ourselves at the table.
Drool.
Followed by a chefs sushi plate. Oddly my favorite was the octopus.
Dessert – corn & caramel ice cream.
Ick. You could really taste the corn (of course. who would think otherwise? yeah. this girl.)
I had to ask our waiter what the strangest ice cream was that they’d ever offered.
He said bacon.
Uh.
Where was I for BACON ICE CREAM?!
View from our hotel at night. Hello, city.
Saturday morning. I think I have a husband under all that fluff. I was hungry. He was not so inclined to get up yet.
Dear Reading Terminal Market – this foodie family loves you. Muah.
Because who doesn’t want an apple dumpling (authentically amish!) for breakfast? Hubs had that. I had the turkey bacon & egg sandwich. I coveted his apple dumpling until he shared a bite {wink} … I’m spoiled.
Drool.
I showed extreme will power & didn’t buy anything. And it was 9 a.m. But really. YUM.
Shirts they sell at the market. Cute.
Villanova!
My heart stops when we walk up those steps.
We walked around campus for awhile to see all that had changed since I left 6 years ago. A lot. And when I say “walked around” I mean it….they were doing MASSIVE construction so we had to go the long way to get to the bookstore. Worth it though. Hugs, sweet college. Miss you.
When I was at ‘Nova I went to church at Wayne Presbyterian. When my family would come visit, we would always go to Great Harvest Bread Co. across the street. The second we walked in, my eyes got misty. The smell alone made me happy.
As does the loaf of pesto parmesean bread on our counter.
I will not eat it yet. It’s for dinner tomorrow. I will not eat it….I will not….
Speaking of Wayne Pres, there she is! I first started working with youth at that church. Went on my first missions trip. Learned contemporary worship songs. Made amazing friends. Went to Jubilee. Learned to love liturgical services. Memorized the Apostles Creed.
We were going to go to Peace A Pizza for lunch but stopped spontaneously in Wayne at a Tapas restaurant called Matador.
I can’t explain how good the food was.
Pulled pork flautas.
Crab, avacado & mango quesadillas.
Crab cake sandwiches that had NO FILLER.
Can we go back now?
But the best part of the trip? Getting home to hug our little girl. We missed her. And she needed to wear her first Villanova hat 😉
One day, little girl, you’ll get to go with us to Philly.
But for now, consider this mama officially and completely spoiled.
