Happy New Year!
Can you believe that 2010 is over? Personally, I have to say “Thank God!” Of the past 27 years, this one ranks as one of the most challenging, heartbreaking, exciting, stretching, and complicated 365 days I have ever experienced.
There were days full of joy and laughter that I never wanted to end. There were days of frustration and tears that I prayed would end quickly. It was a year of survival, growth, and enlightenment, good mixed with bad in a way that can only be summed up as “life.”
I don’t make New Year’s resolutions – I’m pretty impatient and prefer to avoid a “process” if at all possible. I like firm goals and deadlines and action plans. So this year, I’m making goals. I like Donna’s approach at “Another New Season” – the 3 in 30 challenge, making three goals each month, one for your home, your self, and your blog (I’m assuming this last one can be changed to fit whatever it is you want to do creatively).
For my home: starting small, my goal for January is to make sure our kitchen sink is clean & dishes are put away before I go to bed each night. It’s not a huge goal, but honestly, I hate waking up to a gross sink. It’s nicer to start the day when you aren’t looking at last night’s dinner 😛
For myself: I get so caught up pouring out into others as wife/friend/coworker/daughter that I forget to take time to refill myself, and before I know it, I’m burned out & awful to be around. So in January I’m going to do one thing each week that makes ME feel filled up – have coffee with a friend, read a book (just for fun!), do yoga, buy a coloring book & crayons – whatever it takes for me to have a moment of JOY.
For my blog: In January, I will make a goal to post to my blog at least three times a week, and will look at the other blogs I love to see what I could do to make mine better. Feel free to leave a comment & let me know what you would like to see! More photos? Links to other posts? Tags? A new name/theme? A new design? If it fits with my vision for my blog, I’d love to hear your thoughts!
So – what are your goals in 2011?
